Proline Fishing Charters is a family company which has been operating fishing charters since 1991. Owner/Skipper Andrew Horne is a 5th generation fisherman, his forebears fishing professionally in Port Phillip Bay and Bass Strait since migrating from Scotland in 1842 and setting up the original Salmon fishing camps at Portsea. As the professional fishing industry switched from hand lining to netting, Andrew decided his future was in fishing charters, as his exceptional ability to entertain and teach people how to catch fish is one of his greatest attributes. Nobody in the fishing charter industry can suggest they have fished this area longer than Andrew, he is a true local through and through.
Proline Fishing Charters operates Strait Shooter, a 41ft Steber Sportfish, which arguably is the best set up 41ft fishing charter boat in Southern Victoria. She boasts the most up to date Furuno Navnet electronics which incorporate digital fish finding capabilities, digital radar, 3D sounder imaging and satellite navigation. Strait Shooter has comfortable seating with side curtains to prevent seaspray. Strait Shooter has the capacity to fish up to 20 people on fishing trips. Ideally, we like to limit our numbers to 15 or 16, but if you have a larger group, we can accommodate it for you.
Proline Fishing Charters offers charter fishing trips from Sorrento and Queenscliff on the Mornington Peninsula and Bellarine Peninsula, fishing Port Phillip Bay, The Rip and Bass Strait for Snapper, Whiting, Salmon, Kingfish, Gummies, Sharks, Bass Strait Flathead and many other species too numerous to list. These fishing trips operate between October and April.
After Easter, we relocate to Portland to chase Southern Bluefin Tuna in the Southern Ocean. Imagine the exhilaration as the mighty Bluefin Tuna peels line off your reel in a blinding run to regain its freedom. As the fight progresses, you are rewarded as you win the battle and the prized fish is brought to the boat. Tuna Fishing Trips depart daily from Portland Marina between April and July.
