Port Phillip Bay Snapper Fishing Charters
September - February
The annual migration of snapper from well offshore in Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean, to the inshore reef systems of Bass Strait and Port Phillip Bay is a highly anticipated event for many anglers. These fish start to show their presence on the inshore Bass Strait reefs between Torquay and Sorrento as early as mid September, and when conditions are right, these fish start to move towards Port Phillip Heads and The Rip. The snapper then disperse around the bay, feeding profusely in readiness for their annual spawning.
Being based at the southern end of Port Phillip Bay gives Proline Fishing Charters the ability to fish the inshore Bass Strait reefs, and then follow the migrating Snapper into Port Phillip Bay, producing the catches that our charters are famous for.
These Fishing Charters are available between September and February, as this is when you will have the best chance of catching these prized fish. You can charter our boats as a group for these trips and we will be target specific for Snapper only. On most occasions we produce good snapper, but, if they don’t fire, “Fishing is Fishing”.
We can cater to the Individual, Corporate Groups, Church Groups, Fishing Clubs, Ladies Days, Bucks Days or any Social Group you may belong to.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a complete novice or an accomplished angler, we cater for everyone.
You will be fishing aboard the Biggest Charter Boats in Victoria, Due South, a 60 foot Westcoaster Sportfish, or Strait Shooter, a 41 foot Steber Sportfish. Both vessels are skippered by professional Masters who have been fishing these waters all their lives, with experience second to none.
As with all of our Fishing Charters, prices are fully inclusive of GST, fishing rods, bait & tackle, and we serve tea & coffee along with a sausage sizzle BBQ. If you charter one of our boats for 8 or 10 hours, we include hamburgers and salad also. All your fish will be cleaned and bagged ready to cook.
What to Bring: Warm clothes, hat, sunscreen, spray jacket, camera and leave an esky in your car to keep your fish cool on your way home.
All anglers must have a current Victorian Fishing Licence if you’re over 18 and not a pensioner. They can be purchased online here
